I finally bought a K1 (sn 2361) at Dayton. I have been looking at this for a
few months and made myself wait until Dayton to buy it. I knew I was going
to be out of work for the month of June due to surgery, and thought that
building the K1 would be an excellent way to keep busy. Problem is, I
couldn't wait to get started on it and actually finished it a day before my
surgery. Oh well, more time to use it :) .
Everything seems to be working great. I have made a couple of contacts on
it. My only issue is that the pitch of the sidetone and of received signals
seems awfully high. My primary rig is usually set at 700 hz. I could not get
the K1 (by turning C20 and C13) to go any lower than what seems like 1000
hz. Is there anything I can do or parts I can change to get the pitch to a
more comfortable level? I followed the instructions and tuned the signal
until it sounded the strongest and then adjusted C20. If I tune the signal
to a more comfortable pitch, the signal goes way down, almost disappears.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.
