I have just finished construction of K1 #2183 and put it on the air for the
first time. My first QSO was with IZ7ENJ on 20 meters using a G5RV. I got a 559 report from him. Quite a thrill to have the first contact with the K1! I've just got to become more familiar and comfortable with the menus now. A special thanks to Jim K4ZM who helped me focus and find a couple of mistakes I made. I also got some very helpful advice from Elecraft on a couple small issues. I lost one small part and Elecraft was quick to get it in the mail to me. Overall, I enjoyed the construction. Quite different from the Heathkit Twoer I built back in 1967! I am on 40, 30, 20, and 15 right now and will be hoping to make many contacts in the days ahead. I also plan to order another filter board for the K1 so that I can work 80 and 17 meters as well. 73/72 Wes W1LIC Bangor, Maine _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Wes,
First of all, congratulations on the completion and first QSO - you will remember that for a long time! Jim K4ZM saved my bacon more than once on my KX1, so I am glad to hear of his continuing help. 73 de Dave, W5SV / AAR6UE Wes Linscott wrote: > I have just finished construction of K1 #2183 and put it on the air > for the first time.
