We have now released revision 1.02 of the K144XV firmware. As I
mentioned in an earlier posting, this version turns off the K144XV's microprocessor clock in receive mode. In our lab tests, and based on customer reports, this eliminates many if not all of the audible spurious signals heard on the 2-m band. This should be particularly useful if you're using the K144XV for weak- signal SSB/CW work. Please refer to the K144XV manual for firmware installation instructions. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Will this new firmware work with the anticipated K144XV option module ? By the way , what is the status of the option module ? 73, Jan |
Yes, Jan, that is exactly what the new firmware is for. The K144XV has
been available for several months and many of us are now using it with much success on 2 metres. See the order page on the Elecraft web site for details of price and delivery. 73 David G4DMP In a recent message, Jan Holmer SM6TUW <[hidden email]> writes >Will this new firmware work with the anticipated K144XV option module ? >By the way , what is the status of the option module ? -- + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + | David M Pratt, Kippax, Leeds, UK | | Homepage: http://www.g4dmp.co.uk | + - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Wayne, David, my question was unclear: I was referring to the optional PCB to be installed inside the K144XV on top of the tranverter PCB.
The K144XV I already have. I am looking forward to the PLL function for locking the 116 MHz VCXO to the 49.380MHz. Is that project ongoing? Jan |

Wayne,
The 116/118 MHz PLL can obviously not be locked to the 49 MHz ref as you mentioned in an early posting describing the functions of the coming K144XV add-on board. The present solution of the KREF3 corrects the 49 MHz internally. Which external ref will be used for the K144XV PLL, a 10 MHz ext ref as well ? Wayne,
The 116/118 MHz PLL can obviously not be locked to the 49 MHz ref as you mentioned in an early posting describing the functions of the coming K144XV add-on board. The present FLL solution of the KREF3 corrects the 49 MHz internally. Which external ref will be used for the K144XV PLL, the ext ref (10 MHz)? Jan SM6TUW

We do this in firmware, Jan.
The K3EXREF module uses the external 10-MHz reference to determine the exact frequency of the 49-MHz internal reference. If a K144XV PLL is also installed, we know that the 2-meter module is phase-locked to it. We then apply an offset to the 10-meter IF mathematically so that the 2-meter frequency is dead on. This calculated offset replaces the manually entered offsets in the XVn OFS menu entry. 73, Wayne N6KR ---- http://www.elecraft.com On Mar 22, 2011, at 6:08 AM, Jan Holmer SM6TUW <[hidden email]> wrote: > Wayne, > > The 116/118 MHz PLL can obviously not be locked to the 49 MHz ref as you > mentioned in an early posting > describing the functions of the coming K144XV add-on board. > The present FLL solution of the KREF3 corrects the 49 MHz internally. > Which external ref will be used for the K144XV PLL, the ext ref (10 MHz)? > > Jan > SM6TUW > > > wayne burdick wrote: >> >> Jan Holmer SM6TUW wrote: >> >> > Wayne, David, my question was unclear: I was referring to the >> > optional PCB to >> > be installed inside the K144XV on top of the tranverter PCB. >> > The K144XV I already have.
