I am curious as to why the volume control was moved
from the traditional / conventional 'lower row' to the
'next row up' position.
----------------------------------------
My thought was that it was a concession to the needs
of the contesters, since RF Gain gets "ridden" all
night long and the AF gain not so much if the AGC is
working right. For casual operators it doesn't much
matter.
I added another request tonight to Wayne's ever
growing list, to allow the M1 to M4 (plus the REC) key
to be instant BAND sets.
In setup you would specify that the last frequency
used on (example 40 meters) is to be called up on the
VFO A when M1 is TAP'd for example.
Setup for the M1 key would allow any of the available
bands to be assigned to M1, if it was not being used
for a voice/cw memory.
Single touch band changes have become such a crutch
for my operation, I hate to see the K3 without it.
The other option discussed was M->V then touch one of
the quick memory keys and enable in setup so that the
memory tracks the VFO. That's another great way to get
to your band but with two key presses so that would be
my second choice but still quite fine. Anything is
better than laying on the BAND button or calling up a
stale memory every time.
This is my "pet" issue, I'm sure everyone has their
own, which ones to implement and in which priority is
just one more privilege in the world of Eric and Wayne
(and the software company I work for). ;-)
