New K3, no "Fast" AGC it is same as "Slow" AGC

Dean44
An issue that I am having with my K3 is that the "Fast" AGC actual decay time is the same as the "Slow"  AGC actual decay time. If I adjust the menu decay time for the Fast AGC it has no effect, but if I adjust the menu decay time for the Slow AGC, it effects both the Fast and Slow AGC positions. In effect, I have no Fast AGC.

My K3 came with firmware 3.68 and I upgraded to 3.76 but they both have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dean

I noticed the same thing and found a note about it in the archives (TNX Don, W3FPR). Enabling CW Text Decode forces slow AGC. The Rev B1 Owner's Manual contained this note under Advanced Operating Features on page 31:
"The K3 uses slow AGC during CW text decode, overriding the selected AGC setting."

I don't see the note in the Rev D5 manual but I may have missed it.

Turning off the text decode solved the problem, I now have a fast and a slow AGC.

Thanks!

(And thanks to Elecraft for the great customer service!)
