We've just released the latest version of our W1 companion software.
This is the VBasic program that runs on your pc and communicates with
the W1.
The key feature of this release is it adds the ability to quickly and
easily set user parameters in the W1 and save them in the W1's EEPROM.
Here are the settings you can adjust in your W1:
* Choose either Average or Peak Power LEDs (Peak is default)
* Independently select either Average or Peak Power serial port data
(Peak is default here, too)
* Adjust the LED decal to either Slow, Medium, or Fast (Medium is
default)
* Adjust the Range Level drop to Slow, Medium, or Fast (Medium is
default)
* Turn On/Off a Peak-Hold W1 LED (really cool LED that "hangs" after
the rest of the LEDs go out. Off is default)
All of these settings are selectable from a pull down menu that shows
via a check mark which is the setting currently being used in your W1.
As always, the complete source code for this Visual Basic 6.0 project is
also available on our website. Feel free to download and modify to your
heart's content!
The W1 software page can be reached via the 'software' link off our main
http://www.elecraft.com web page, or directly at:
http://www.elecraft.com/software/W1/elecraft_w1_software.htmOf course, you don't need the VBasic program to adjust these settings in
your W1 (but it is pretty cool this way). The W1 assembly manual has
the complete Command Set at the back of the manual. Using a program
like Windows Hyperterm allows you to send commands to the W1 and read
back the response.
The W1 serial protocol is documented in its user manual, available at:
