New to list/want to build

Fred (FL)
Steve -

You should only have a great experience building
the Elecraft K2 Xcvr!   Sounds like you have the
skills and kit interest - in doing a fine job.
You have no need for a Scope .... to complete one.
I built one in mid 2006, probably took me 4 weeks,
chunking along every day.  My first electronics
formal course was at a small "basic electronics"
course outfit, in Ft. Erie, Ontario - north of
Buffalo.

Those were the days!  This Elecraft message
board - is a great source of experts on every
aspect of the K2 and the K2 build.  Enjoy!

The K2 has pretty much every "test instrument"
you'll need - built right into the K2 itself.
When K2's done, you can use a free PC copy of the
SPECTROGRAPH signal analysis program - and align
the K2 and all its filters.  You'll have
a super time I'm sure.

Fred, FL (formerly WB2JUX)

Thanks everyone for your advise and support.  I think this is the
perfect project to eat up some of my spare time.  Now to order the kit(s)!
