First, kudos to Eric, Wayne and everyone at Elecraft for an amazing product. I hope I enjoy using
the K2 as much as I did building it. My New Year's resolution is to try and finish my WAS, I'd like
to use the K2 and a straight key as much as possible.
K2 SN 5929 passed Alignment Part III Sunday evening, and is hearing on all bands (what there is to
hear anyways). I forgot that I never finished the KAT100, so I spent another hour on that. My only
HF antenna is a 300' loop that normally goes to the tuner in the TS450. And then I had to finish
and install the KIO2. At 1AM I decided to leave the DB9 cable for Monday.
I've been building the options since last Christmas, so they're all ready to be plugged in after I
check the basic K2. I used the UnPCBs and the companion guide. Yes, it's extra paper, but it's a
nice product so I don't mind supporting those guys, and I'm not a fan of plated through holes ;-)
I managed to catch my mistakes before I reached each alignment section. Nothing major; swapped a
2.2uF and 22uF capacitor, put in a big RFC instead of a little one, and spent an hour
troubleshooting a deaf receiver - when I reassembled after Part II, I plugged the NB UnPCB one pin
over which broke the signal path.
