Ok---this might be elementary to many but I can't seem to find the problem.
After I built the NB board and plugged it in along with the SSB board and plugged in the ATU cable and the internal battery cable, I plugged in the speaker cable, Now there is no audio from the speaker, but there is audio from the headphones. I checked the speaker and cable with a ohmmeter and things look ok. Elecraft suggusted that the headphone jack might be bad, but I had never used it before this and the audio was ok from the speaker then. Everything else is working fine including the NB Has anyone else experienced this problem? I might add that I did not build this K2 but aquired it total built and working 100% Any help would be appreciated. Gee Ken, I duhno, but here are some troubleshooting ideas.
Rule #1: If it was working but now isn't, look at what changed. I don't care if what changed "has nothing to do with it", start checking there. Rule #2: Follow the clues. Gather clues and follow them. Don't jump to a conclusion about what it is (I've change the part 3 times and the rig STILL doesn't work) or what it isn't. Rule #3: Ask Don. Try taking all those accessories out. Do you still have output? Then put them in one at a time. This will at least narrow the search. - Keith - -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of [hidden email] Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2006 9:07 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] No audio from speaker on K2 Ok---this might be elementary to many but I can't seem to find the problem. Ken,
While your trouble shooting the audio problem, go ahead and order a couple of headphone jacks from Elecraft. If the jack is not the problem it won't hurt to have a spare on hand. I've had to replace the jack twice in one of my K2's. It didn't make sense to me either, one day it worked, the next day it didn't. If there is a weak point in the K2/K1 audio hardware, it's the phone jack. G'day,
Not plugged into the wrong socket on the RF board is it? The one you want is near the front right hand side not half way down the board, aux 12v or something like that from memory. A common mistake when reassembling.
