Kenneth Christiansen

No field day this year for W0CZ

I just got my notification from the Salvation Army that I will be
spending two weeks driving a canteen at Cedar Rapids Iowa. I will be
missing field day which I have been looking forward to all year. I
missed field day the year I built my K2 as as I got flooded my self here
in Fargo ND. I appreciated the help I received then and know it is time
to repay people now.

73 and will be looking forward to hearing how field day goes this year
for the rest of you.

You guys are great. I worked the levies here during two extended floods and
you guys were there repeatedly day after day "all the time". I really
appreciate what you do. The Red Cross, now that was a totally different
story. They came out every two or three days and served a few people there
BUT they brought the news media and cameramen with them and showed how great
they were on TV. When they got their pictures, they left even though many
of the people there working had not had a chance to get anything.

After that, all my donations go to the Salvation Army - NONE to the Red
Cross ever again.

AND THAT IS FOR REAL AND FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. - and not just an
isolated experience - several times I SAW EXACTLY THAT.

Perhaps not a *good* reason, but if a list member donates his personal
time to help a charitable service organization such as the Salvation
Army when they would otherwise be participating in Field Day, they
should have at least some sort of acknowledgement.

Then again, if you haven't worked in the rain bagging sand for 14 hrs
straight and suddenly hear that the Salvation Army is a 1/4 mile down
the road handing out coffee & donuts, it probably isn't going to mean a
whole lot.

Many tune in here to get a picture of how production is moving along and the
emails of people getting their confirmation emails and emails of received
units were very appreciated by myself...

with the Katigram stuff, at least it relates to K3's and doesn't start an
interminable OT thread. I was keen to see progress towards my own K3
despatch.

I simply replied to all. I'd just like to see things remain civil and while
some things are not wanted by a few there are many who do like them. I was
making no accusations to anyone by copying them on the email. I was just
trying to inform some about the fact that the K3 production reports are
appreciated by many. I get a lot of comments off list about the graphs that
I provide reflecting K3 production and wait times.
