I started hamming in 1963 and remember the space cadet guy very well.
It was W2OY, Myron. He chastized people for using phonetics, hi. It was
always amusing listening to him. I actually called him one time, and since
I wasn't allowed to use phonetics, he got the V wrong in my call, hi.
 
Ah, the good ole days.
