No power out of a K line.

rikoski
I have an Elecraft K3, KAT 500 and KPA 500.

I usually use it at full power with a 260’ off-center dipole on 160, 80, 40, and 20m.

Last week, I tried it with a 140’ doublet on 160 meters to see if the tuner would be able to reduce the swr to enable operation on that band.

Since then when trying it on any band with the off center dipole, it shows the K3 putting whatever power it is set to but then immediately drops to zero.

Is this a matter of switch settings or did I burn something out?

Thanks. Rick W9ZD

Rick -

You don't say if the 160 meter operation using the 140' doublet was successful, but surely the KAT500 would handle that.

Maybe this is too easy ... but have you checked to make sure the KAT500 is connecting to the correct antenna, now that you've switched back?

Did you receive any Fault Indications on the KPA500?

I have a similar setup here.

Re: No power out of a K line.

Ronnie Hull
Kinda similar weird thing happened to me th is morning.    Was on 80 SSb earlier with no issues. Moved to 20M.. was in a QSO and suddenly NO POWER out of my K3.  When I first put it in TX it will show power then instantly drop to 0

I put my backup K3 inline and its working fine

Guess its off to Elecraft for my faithful dx pileup buster..
