Hi Gang,
Had problem with "noise clicks" while using the width control before this latest fw upgrade. I thought that this was supposed to be addressed with the latest fw. I have 3.52 installed and still have clicks in the headphones when adjusting the width control. I thought it might be caused by some of the stations that were loud, due to the close proximity of the signals but did not have this before 3.44 fw. Has anybody else have similar problems with this "artifact"? 73 Tom/k1tl... ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I hear a click when changing between 0.15 and 0.10.

Could you just be hearing the width steps. That is all I hear here.

Hi Tom,
Yes, after saying I did not hear them I just this moment did hear them in my out board speaker. Looks like a CW sig needs to be present before I hear them, but they are very prominent 73 Doug N3QW ----- Original Message ----- From: "tom_k1tl" <[hidden email]> To: "Doug Alspaugh" <[hidden email]> Sent: Sunday, November 01, 2009 9:17 AM Subject: RE: [Elecraft] [K3] Noise Clicks...still! > Hi Doug, > > Seems that I did not have this b4 the 3.44fw update and since then I have > been hearing the "clix" in the headset...almost sounds like "key clix." > > It might also be that I have a bad decoder pot as one signal did change > freq > while I was tuning thru the steps. Yes ... I can hear them prominently when using the WIDTH control as well. I tried both AF-HI and AF-LO, as well as AGC-F and AGC-S, with the same result. No AFX, no NB, no NR or anything like that, and it happens in both CW and SSB modes as long as there is a tone present in the background (CW, PSK, tuner-upper, etc). It's more pronounced with wider bandwidths, of course, since the noise clicks are sharp and have lots of high frequency components. I'm using FW 3.52. 73, Dave AB7E Doug Alspaugh wrote: > Hi Tom, > > Yes, after saying I did not hear them I just this moment did hear them in my > out board speaker. I've always found that if you have a loud CW signal present, and you start narrowing down the passband width just adjacent to them, you get clicks.. That's just codes little way of knocking at the door of the filter... Until you get narrow enough, or far enough away from their transmission your going to hear them. If the signal is an S4 of S5 you probably wont here them nearly as close as say someone at S9 or 20 over S9. That's what I've found anyhow. This has ALWAYS been the case. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I have Filters in my rig, and not just depending on the DSP??? > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email]; [hidden email] > Date: Sun, 1 Nov 2009 10:02:20 -0500 > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] [K3] Noise Clicks...still! > > Hi Tom, > > Yes, after saying I did not hear them I just this moment did hear them in my > out board speaker. In general, be sure you have FIR rather than IIR filters selected. CONFIG:FLx GN and tap "7" until you see the message "IIR OFF" You can use most any of the CONFIG:FL menus for this. The click or "pop" as you go between a width of 0.15 and 0.10 is normal. 73, Lyle KK7P ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I've tried the L-mix-R this weekend. It is good step forward but still, I am missing one setting. What I would really like, is this: Ab - Ba I am writing it like this because I would like the main RX to be normal level in left ear (A) and reduced level in right ear (a), and Sub RX normal level in right ear (B) and reduced level in left ear (b). This gives a more natural sound and equals my attention for Main and Sub RX. It would be nice if this would be an extra menu setting to choose from. 73, Arie PA3A ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi,
In addition to Arie's remarks, I would like to be able to select these options in the L-MIX-R menu: A-A B-B If these options are in the L-MIX-R menu, I can use the MN111 and MP commands to set the audio mixing to: main receiver only (A-A) or sub receiver only (B-B). It may look silly to want to select these options, but during SO2V contesting it is sometimes very handy to be able to listen to one receiver on both ears and completely mute the other receiver. 73, Frank PA4N P.S. Currently, I have implemented something similar by using the !bec3; and !bed8; commands, but sometimes this results in very loud audio. So I'd rather go the neater route with the MN111 (L-MIX-R) command. At 19:24 01/11/2009, Arie Kleingeld PA3A wrote: >I've tried the L-mix-R this weekend.
