Now What?? T-1

NR5A
First a couple of weeks ago I managed to blow the diodes in the KAT-2 for
the 2nd time. I have not been on the air for about a week and just got out
my T-1. Replaced the battery with a fresh one. Atempted to tune on 20m, get
the flashing green lite key down stays on red till I let off the key then
the green lite flashes for another 2 minutes or so. Does this both on my
vertical and G5RV. Rig has been completely disconnected for a week.

What the heck am I doing wrong? Now I'm really getting frustrated.

Hi Jerry,

The red light after end-of-tune-up indicates a high SWR. This would
normally not cause any problem with the T1 since it has bypass
capacitors on all of the microcontroller leads. But you could have a
case of extreme RFI; it could be caused by a ground loop, or even a VHF
or UHF oscillation in the radio. Unusual but not impossible.

What power level are you using? You might try doing tune-ups at 2 watts
to see if your difficulties are proportional to power out.

I've also asked Gary in our CS department to help you with this.
