Was wondering if anyone can tell me if the iPads will run any ham software such as the Elecraft Utilities and Echolink, Fldigi or digipan? I wouldn’t want to get one and find out I can’t run those programs, so any advice?

Bill - if you are seeking to have those software types run on a tablet, it is better to look for a windows based tablet. iPads run the fewest ham-related software of all the tablets.

Yes there are several you can use with your iPad and a iMic/speaker combo. It has been discussed here several times not too long ago.

No they can't at the present time. However, many of the new Windows tablets (e.g. Acer Iconia W3/W4 or Lenovo Mix 2) run the Windows versions of those programs quite nicely for *about half the price* of the comparable 64GB iPAD Air (e.g. 8" display, 64GB SSD). 73, ... The utilities will not run but other software will and quite well on the
iPad, also none of the others have the battery of the iPad. 73, Fred/N0AZZ -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Joe Subich, W4TV Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2013 11:09 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] O.T Question for the group No they can't at the present time. I use an ipad3, and do run the Echolink App on it. It works well.
