What's the difference between a PN2222 and a PN2222A transistor? When used as a switch, can a PN2222 be used as a substitute for the PN2222A? Thanks.

Looking at the A suffix 2222, it appears they are graded units having a
higher breakdown voltage across the elements. It should work anywhere a 2222 without suffix is specified. My understanding is the 2222A is the military spec version. Maybe I'm
wrong, but it's got to be something like that, either that or a slightly later version...... you might try googling a bit, spec sheets for common parts can be pretty easy to find, I'm always looking up the simple stuff myself. 73 de Alex NS6Y.
