I would just like to add one thing. I switched over to a Mac book pro intel duel core, 5 years ago. I just installed Mountain Lion about 2 weeks ago. ( only because I wanted to.)
I always skip a year on upgrades. So I went from Snow to Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion works great on my computer. I always do a new install by formatting the hard drive.
clean every thing out. This is a pain in the butt if you forget to save anything. The install is much cleaner and works much better this way.
