OT: more than you should ever want to know about Screwhead Types

DOUGLAS ZWIEBEL
I have to admit, Reid and Prince as well as Pozidriv were new to me.
Here is a quick reference page.  Amazing...who knew?

Very interesting page.

I'd been aware of Reid and Prince for over 50 years, but hadn't heard
anyone mention them in quite a long time.

One curious thing is that they use the term "Square Recess" instead
of "Robertson."
I'd always heard them called Robertson.
I believe it was McFeely's in Lynchburg, Virginia that was
instrumental in reviving interest in the Robertson bit.

Yes, it is true that there are many screwhead types.
Contrary to comments earlier on this reflector, using a Pozidrive as a
Phillips screwdriver is not always a good idea - the Pozidrive will not
fit into a correctly sized Phillips screwhead forcing one to use a
smaller size Pozidrive.

One thing for certain, those "Phillips" screwdrivers that have a sharp
tip are not Phillips type at all - either blunt the point with a grinder
until it fits with precision into a Phillips screwhead or buy a proper
Phillips screwdriver.  I always have preferred Xcelite brand
screwdrivers - they fit my hands quite nicely and feel comfortable in use.
