OT: was soldering questions... thank you!

Thanks to all who gave me suggestions on soldering.

Was able to perform the Extreme Signal RX mod without a hitch tonight.
Tested the radio, and all is well.  Only nervous part was soldering the
hookup wire to R56.  I was afraid I'd loosen it.  I kept my iron at 364*C
though and made sure contact was quick with R56; just long enough to tack
the wire in place.

Now just waiting for the noisy VFO kit to arrive so I can solder those
resistor/diode pairs into the RF board.  BTW, none of the vias on my board
had solder in them which made life pretty easy.

For me the nervous part was injecting enough signal into the RX port to
activate the new feature!  Not every day you dump a full watt into the
rig.
