Well, there are lots of folks who think their off-topic post is clever
enough or important enough to justify it, so self control isn't likely
to be very effective. The most effective way to combat off topic posts
would be for others on the list to gently remind offenders, but
Wayne/Eric have repeatedly (and understandably) made that against the
list guidelines in an obvious effort to avoid confrontations ... many of
which would likely occur due to differences of opinion on what is
actually off topic.
Besides, I use the off topic posts to calibrate me relative to the
sender. The same ones generate most of it, and I just delete all their
posts as being unlikely to be insightful no matter what the subject is.
It actually sames time.
