In the CQ WW 160 SSB my friend Chuck, W5PR and I were both operating the contest. Chuck has a very good antenna system and near max legal power. His signal runs about 50 over S9 at my QTH. I endeavored to see how close to Chuck's run frequency I could work a station. I was able to work an S9 signal 2.5 Khz below Chuck's run freq. More than 3 KHZ above or below, I could not tell when Chuck transmitted. Bravo for the K3 and Bravo for Chuck and his extremely clean transmitter!

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION WHICH RADIO CHUCK WAS USING TO BE SO CLEAN AT ONLY 3KHZ FROM YOU.

I didn't forget Hector, I don't know. I don't think it is a K3 and I am sure his amplifier is not an Elecraft. How sure are you? The amp (or amps?) that Eric used to demo at hamfests must be somewhere. Who knows? Maybe the KPA-500, if there is such a thing, is in a (secret) field test ... maybe ... Hector, I asked Chuck for his rundown. Here is his answer.
Willis 'Cookie' Cooke K5EWJ ________________________________ Hi Cookie, you did not bother me at all during the contest. I was using an Icom 756PROIII with a Tentec Titan (the first version). On transmit, I shunt fed the 135' tower with a 70' gamma match made from old coax and a couple of capacitors. I used 2 elevated radials in opposite directions which I put in place and then trimmed for resonance by feeding each of them separately against ground. Receive was 4 Beverages. I think I will play some on 160 next weekend, but will still do 10 meters.
