I adore my K3, but the Owner's Manual index, not so much. I just went
looking for references to the preamplifier, because I couldn't see the button caption to turn it on or off (I know, I'm blind), and there is not a single hit on the term. This is often my experience when trying to use the index, and it makes lookups a lot harder. Perhaps somebody at Elecraft might have time to turn a really good indexer loose on the manual. 73, Pete N4ZR The World Contest Station Database, updated daily at www.conteststations.com The Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com, spots at telnet.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I find myself not printing new versions of manuals, Elecraft and others, and
relying on Adobe Reader to display them on screen. Using CTL-F to find the desired section is usually quicker for me than using the index. If you have Adobe Professional or a similar program you can highlight in yellow sections of interest. Jim N7US -----Original Message----- I adore my K3, but the Owner's Manual index, not so much. Frequently, when I am hunting for something about my K3, I already have
two monitors full of other stuff, which is why my remark purposely applied only to the printed manual. 73, Pete N4ZR The World Contest Station Database, updated daily at www.conteststations.com The Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com, spots at telnet.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 On 8/10/2010 9:17 AM, David Ferrington, M0XDF wrote: > This has been covered here many times, but download the PDF version and you can search the PDF... > http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K3_Owner's_Manual_Rev_D7.pdf - high res version > http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K3_Owner's_Manual_Rev_D7sm.pdf - web res version > > poke around the Elecraft site, lots of valuable PDF and other downloads available. > > 73 de M0XDF, K3 #174 > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Minimize the other stuff and search with Adobe "Find" box. This is the only way to go as a printed index will never be as comprehensive as a full document search, not to mention possibly being out of date. BTW no problem here with the P3 Rev. A3 manual using the latest Acrobat Reader 9.3.3. |

Yesterday I received notification from Olivia of shipment within 7 to 10
days of the P3 ordered approx noon EST on the 16th of April. Looks like they have completed the initial group from the 15th. 73 Doug VE3MV ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the manual feedback. I add new index entries when I find them lacking, and I'll add one or more to take care of the missing info you noted. 73, Wayne N6KR On Aug 10, 2010, at 4:06 AM, Pete Smith wrote: > I adore my K3, but the Owner's Manual index, not so much.
