Over voltage protection

The best over voltage protection is a 4 component circuit using a SCR, a ZENER, a resistor, and a capacitor.  Oh yes, a fuse also!  Since the circuit goes across the supply to ground, it does not carry output current nor effect normal power supply operation

Below is what all my protected supplies use. I'd never do it any other way.
