P3 - Ballistic Tuning

Jack Scheinuk
Ballistic tuning has been added to the betas for CENTER and SPAN.

What is "ballistic tuning", and how is it used?

Re: P3 - Ballistic Tuning

As you turn the knob faster, the step size increases.  When you slow
down, the step size is back to normal.  Makes it much easier to make
large changes while retaiing control for small changes.

If ballistic tuning is coming, please make it a menu
item ... for all knob twirls. (:-)  I have no interest in it.

If Elecraft is finally going to implement ballistic tuning, I think it will be a
welcome addition to most everyone.  If people don't want to use it, you just turn the
dial more slowly to have the radio tune as it does now.  I am not sure it requires
the addition of more options on the Menu....  Can't wait to see it!

Yes, PLEASE optional.  Particularly on anything other than a tuning knob.

Once I get used to how far a tuning knob moves frequency on a
rotation, I often do moves on these kind of things by counting fast
finger twirls without ever looking at it. Ballistic tuning would
always force me to always watch while tuning.
