P3 was just fine. Then, rig still on during dinner, it is now in
tracking mode and won't go back to fixed tune [where the band stays stable and I tune across it]. In the FixTune menu, the only thing there is "Tracking mode." Turning the knob moves to the next or previous main menu selection. Tapping it does nothing. Config reset with the LABELS key worked but didn't fix it. I reloaded the latest production firmware and have done config reset. Pretty much everything else seems to work OK. Hoping this is a technical difficulty in my mind, I remain Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2013 Cal QSO Party 5-6 Oct 2013 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Fred,
The menu you want is called FixTrack and when you press the SELECT knob it toggles between TRACKING mode and FIXED-TUNE mode. If the P3 won't go into TRACKING mode it is probably because the RS232 link between the P3 and the K3 is not working. The quickest way to determine if you have good communication between the two is to look at the top center of the P3 screen. The current K3 frequency should be displayed regardless of which mode you are in. If you see a zero on the screen you have lost communication. 73, Mike K2MK

In the mass of wires and cables behind my "wireless," I find the DB9 laying there. I guess I forgot to screw it down when I put the rig back together after making the IF gain mod.
