I have noticed that if I turn my P3 off the RS232 out link to the PC also stops.
Is this correct? Roger GW4WND |
Yes, it does that on mine too. I'm using a microHAM Station Master and if I
turn off the P3, the band data goes away. The fix here is to turn the P3 on then power off and on the radio. Hi Pete, Check the RS232 speed settings in the P3.
The P3 forces (and leaves) the K3 at 38400 baud. If you have the P3 set to something other than 38400 then your software is likely set to that (say 19200). With the P3 'out of the picture', your software at 19200 is trying to 'talk' to the K3 set at 38400. Simple fix: set the P3 and your software to 38400. As an independent verification, use the K3 utility with and without the P3 - it will work fine. It manages to handle the speed mismatch because it tries all four possible speeds. 73, Bill N2BC -----Original Message----- From: Peter Chamalian Sent: Monday, July 04, 2011 9:46 AM To: 'Roger Banks' ; [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] P3 RS232 Yes, it does that on mine too. I can find an output from the K3 with the R20 at about 8.580. If I set a user if to that and plug the P3 in then I get a display with a couple of peaks at -105db . However, it is not the main IF output as you can tune off it and nothing else is visible.
The P3 will show the random noise floor at -165dB using scale. Roger |
Roger,
Tune lower - the K3 IF center is at 8215 kHz. Make certain your P3 is also set to the K3 center frequency. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/4/2011 11:13 AM, Roger Banks wrote: > I can find an output from the K3 with the R20 at about 8.580.
