Hello,
I have a bit of dust behind the plastic display cover on my P3, between the case and the cover. In reviewing the kit assembly instructions, it looks as if the four screws on the four corners of the plastic display cover are also used to hold the entire display board in place on the front panel. Is this correct? It also looks like all I need to remove these four screws from the front, while holding the entire display board in place from the rear, in order to get the plastic display cover off for cleaning. Is this correct? Are there any "surprises" in this process anyone knows of? Hidden washers to drop, etc? -- 73s and thanks, Dave (NK7Z) https://www.nk7z.net ARRL Technical Specialist ARRL Volunteer Examiner ARRL Asst. Dave... I have done this. I disconnected the unit and tilted it face forward quite a bit. I removed 3 screws but left one loose in the bottom left hand corner. I rotated the plastic face down and replaced 2 screws along the top of the screen. I then removed the original "lose" screw and plastic cover and replaced the other lower right hand side screw. I then cleaned up with a microfiber cloth and replaced the screen cover in the reverse order - always keeping at least one screw in the display while tilted forward. No issues for me. I also planned around a high humidity environment in the house to reduce the static cling. I turned the A/C off when I went to work while it was a warm overcast day and when I got home it was about 80% humidity in the house - trust me it makes a difference! Hank,
Thank you for that tip! That was what I needed... Never thought of tilting the unit forward! I live in Oregon, it rains here all the time, and so humidity will not be an issue, lots of that here! Thanks again!! 73s and thanks, Dave (NK7Z) https://www.nk7z.net ARRL Technical Specialist ARRL Volunteer Examiner ARRL Asst.
