P3/SVGA firmware Version question

T Gahagan-2
I’m a bit confused about P3 firmware.  I saw mentioned in past posts that a beta P3 version 1.18 was available.  When I direct the P3 utility to the Elecraft “Mother ship” it says that P3 version 1.20 is available.  Upon downloading and installing 1.20 the P3 utility no longer sees my SVGA board.  Restarting the P3 utilitiy does not help.  It says the SVGA board is not available.  If I load the Beta version?? 1.18 and refresh the utility the SVGA board appears again.  When I update the SVGA firmware it gives me an error code stating that it was unable to do a reset after firmware was downloaded but if I shut the P3 off and then turn it back on it shows that the firmware download was successful.  I know I must be doing something wrong or am missing something but not sure what it is.  Hopefully someone on the reflector can shed some light on my confusion.

Thanks,
Todd, WA7U

Re: P3/SVGA firmware Version question

Hi Todd,

I did put out an announcement several weeks ago about the 1.18 beta, however since that time I just released the new 1.20/1.10 P3/SVGA firmware.    Everything that was in the BETA is in the new release, albeit with additional fixes and features.

If you are having trouble downloading firmware to the P3/SVGA, try the following:

1) Verify that you are using version 1.12.4.26 or later of the P3 Utility.
2) Make sure that there is no other application running on your computer such as a logging or control program that would affect the serial port going to the P3 and/or K3.
3) If you have the P3 utility running, close it down.
4) Power the P3 off, then on and wait 30 seconds.
5) Start the P3 Utility.
6) In the P3 Utility window, click on View   and select Advanced Mode.
7) Click on the Firmware tab.
8) Under the Load column, ensure that all the check boxes are UNCHECKED EXCEPT FOR SVGA.
9) Click on the Send Checked Items to P3 button.
10) The SVGA board should now load correctly.   After loading the SVGA board, you can continue to load the individual FPGA files using the check boxes.

Paul
