A day of two new things discovered about the P3:
The P3 is the dream tool for someone like me who would like to
know what's on the shortwave bands but who lacks the patience for tuning
aimlessly around. The waterfall display will take the boredom out of that
process with the push of a button. And then if one finds a short wave
station and narrows down the SPAN and starts playing with the mode switch
and tuning knob, more interesting things details can be discovered about the
integration of the P3 with the K3. You can lose a couple hours of playing
quite quickly. I hadn't anticipated this benefit whatsoever.
Also I found today that the waterfall display was useful for
determining which of my receive-only antennas is working best for me overall
for any given situation just by visual inspection of a hunk of spectrum and
toggling between antennas. Something else that I hadn't expected to be able
to do with the P3 (because I hadn't thought about it).
