Not really been keeping up on the reflector, just acquired a P3 but cannot find any way of tracking VFO B For my use this is paramount, I assumed this could be done with the P3, am I wrong? If I'm wrong could this be put in the next firmware update please? Everything else on the P3 is as expected and very good. Maybe a better explanation would help :- OK here's the senario. VFO A Main run VFO on say RTTY contest, want to tune to find multi's with VFO B but using a narrow display width on the P3 (ie 25khz), VFO B is out of the display very quickly. Now if you could track the frequency of VFO B on the panadapter I could see upto 200khz (+ or - 100khz of VFO A) with VFO B. So in essence I know the P3 takes the IF from VFO A but at 200khz bandwidth you could track at a high resolution (narrow frequency, say + or - 12khz) of the VFO B frequency if it allowed us to track with the VFO B frequency. For me this would be very useful on single op and Big nob Little nob operation (2 operators) as my whole system is set up for the sub VFO to be the multi chaser and the main VFO for running. So can this be done or is it a please mr elecraft add this function to the P3? This comming weekend is BARTG RTTY and I'd love to use it this way ??? Brian I've played with a softrock and rocky but it never really did it for me, maybe i didn't set it up correctly? It never seems very sensitive to me even with the IF out mod on the k3, Are you using a preamp / filter on the softrock? Anyway the idea of the P3 was a good one, just hope they can add this feature in future release. Jim,
I am not sure what you mean by "track". The P3 will show the VFO B frequency with the magenta cursor. See "Using Cursors" in the P3 manual. If you mean -- display the output of the subRX, that is not possible without a mod to the SubRX - there is no IF output from the sub. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/17/2011 1:44 AM, Jim Balls wrote: > All > > Not really been keeping up on the reflector, just acquired a P3 but cannot find any way of tracking VFO B > > For my use this is paramount, I assumed this could be done with the P3, am I wrong? > > If I'm wrong could this be put in the next firmware update please? > > Everything else on the P3 is as expected and very good. > > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

IF OUT uses VFO A so a hardware mod must be added for VFO B in the KRX3 to have an IF OUT. N2QT has described a mod to do this below: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Elecraft_K3/files/KRX3_IF_Out/ You may need to join the Yahoo Groups Elecraft_K3 list to view the above. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you might be able to do this before the weekend. 73, Bill |
