P3 XIT marker

Stewart Baker
Last weekend I had a brief excursion into the ARRL DX CW contest. It was the first time that I had used my P3 in a contest
and I was interested to see what it brought to the party. Using it turned out to be quite beneficial, and I look forward to using it
for the next contest I enter.

There has been a lot of discussion recently about the "mushiness" or otherwise of the K3 receiver when handling CW pileup's
One of the suggestions made is that it is possibly many of the stations calling on exactly the same frequency due to point and
click operation from cluster spots. People transmitting slightly off the wanted stations frequency may help reduce this.

When calling stations I used the XIT to make sure that I was not zero beat with the station I was calling. However as CW is not
my preferred mode I was rather guessing as to how much and in which direction I should apply the frequency offset.

It would have been nice if one of the P3 markers instead of showing the RX frequency could be selected to show the TX frequency.
That way I would have had a visual appreciation of the relationship between the station I was calling and my transmitted signal.
I could also see if I was trying to make the contact on top of someone else.

Maybe the P3 already does this, and I have missed it.
