I bet that 90% of us Elecrafters have a computer running alongside the K3/K2
at all times. Now, wouldn't it be an idea if there was a version of the upcoming P3 *without display* *or soundcard*, but from where a cable could be connected to the computer's soundcard. We have already a nice, large PC monitor to show the panorama, a serial connection to the radio, and a mouse to click with. --Or is this a stupid question? It already exists.
It's called LP-PAN. Rick
Here's the link to the LP-PAN. I've been using mine for nearly 2 years. I use SDR-IQ from RFSpace with Spectravue Software running on my PC which
directly integrates with the K3 for point and click tuning. I really like the display on a 22' LCD monitor. I went this route as the SDR-IQ can also be used as a stand-alone receiver, and is also supported by CW Skimmer Just my 2c worth 73 Gregg W6IZT -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Steve Ellington Sent: Saturday, January 02, 2010 9:50 AM To: Kevin; Richard Meilstrup Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] P3 black box Rick Here's the link to the LP-PAN. I wouldn't call it a stupid question Rick, but it is not a product that would interest me. I often have two computers at my operating station to get the screen space that I want and am thinking about adding another monitor to this computer in addition to the 22" monitor that I am using. I don't want a panadapter that uses my computer screen or my computer hardware. There are several non-Elecraft options available for those who do prefer a computer solution.

I used to feel this way until I picked up a fast PC on Ebay. I now use it
strictly for radio control. It has a dual VGA monitor output. I have PowerSDR running on one screen and Logger32 on the other With MIXW running in the background. The mouse smoothly slides between the 2 monitors. LP-Bridge provides me with the extra virtual serial ports needed to run multiple radio connections. In the morning, I just turn on the PC, click on LP-Bridge and it automatically brings up the other programs. It's a pretty smooth system.
