P3 serial number 091 is alive and working well.

Has anyone noticed how the reaction time between the K3 and HRD has
slowed considerably since installing the P3..?? The commands were instantaneous before and now the K3 takes 2 to 3 seconds to react to any band change or other commands from HRD. I have several things that use the RS-232 port: 1 - Microham Keyer II 2 - Microham Station Master 3 - P3 4 - Palstar Auto-Tuner (In listen mode) W4CCS ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I am using MicroKeyer II with Logger32 here and so no difference since I
added the P3. Must be something to do with HRD. That is to be expected. HRD polls any rig as fast as it possibly can ... to the extent of overloading the rig CAT interface. The P3 must stop external polling data periodically to get its own data so HRD will not have as big a "pipe" as it did before the P3. There does not appear to be any slowdown of other software that polls on a more reasonable (e.g., 200 msec or so between polls) basis. 73, ... Thanks to Darin, K6OSX, uploading and installing the beta firmware v00.31 fixed the problem. Whatever was done to 00.31 seems to have affected the operation of Logger32
software and the P3. I can use 00.28 with no problems or turn the P3 off with 00.31 and that cures the problem. I experienced my very first vapor-lock (MCU LD freeze-up) when doing the
V4.05 download with the P3 connected in the RS-232 path......have done many, many firmware updates since receiving my K3 (S.N 567) with no glitches at all.......is this a coincidence? Did you remember to turn the P3 off BEFORE uploading new firmware to the K3? If you did turn off the P3 first, make sure that the SUB is turned off too. I've seen this keep things from loading successfully as well. > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 17:30:39 -0400 > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Slowed RS-232 with P3 installed > > Johnw, N6AX wrote: > > > I experienced my very first vapor-lock (MCU LD freeze-up) when doing the > > V4.05 download with the P3 connected in the RS-232 path......have done > > many, many firmware updates since receiving my K3 (S.N 567) with no > > glitches at all.......is this a coincidence? > > > Did you remember to turn the P3 off BEFORE uploading new firmware to the K3? > > Bruce, N1RX > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The newest K3 Utility looks for a O3 and prompts you to switch the P3 off before loading K3 firmware. P3 firmware support for pass thru firmware load of a K3 is on the P3 work item list but has not yet been implemented.
