Hi
I am experimenting with using my P3 with my PicaStar radio as described in the P3 manual page 22..
If I set the P3 center frequency with #CTF 00000000000; and inject with the 10.7 MHz being the IF of my PicaStar the P3 shows the correct amplitude, that is a -73dBm shows as -73dBm on the P3.
If I then write to the P3 #CTF 00010700000; which is the instruction to set the centre frequency of the P3 to 10.7MHz then I still see a correct amplitude and the centre title changes to 10.700.00
If I then set the P3 to sample the PicaStar (set to 7100kHz ) IF out at 10.7MHz and set the P3 centre frequency to #CTF 00000000000; then the amplitude on the P3 is correct
However if I write #CTF 00007100000; so that the P3 shows the actual RF frequency which has been mixed down to 10.7 then immediately I write the #CTF instruction the amplitude on screen drops by about 50dB
I am not clear why this occurs.
I might add that I have the user defined set up correct as 10.7MHz inverted, again as per the manual.
Many thanks if you have any ideas why this behaviour occurs.
I realise I might have to ask Teach Support at Elecraft
73 and thanks
