PAN Adaptor interface question

KD8NNU

I think that I need to add KXV3a to my K3 if I want to connect a PAN
adaptor or P3 of some sort.   So do I have the right item identified.

Currently I do not have that option installed.  It seems a low cost item
but the bigger question is what is a reasonable amout of time required
to install it.

I have a K3 100w version with no sub receiver.

Thanks

Re: PAN Adaptor interface question

Took me a couple of hours - but, I work slowly and am very careful.

I do not have the P3 and now doubt if I ever will. The K3 failed several
weeks after the installation was done. Unknown if one factor is related
to the other.

Hi Don,

Yes you will need the KXV3A.

I originally did not have the KXV3A and I later added it to my K3. It is a very easy option to install. That was a few years ago but I would venture to say that it took far less than one hour. You'll have to first remove the I/O board. This is the board with the RS232 and ACC connectors. Be extremely careful not to over tighten the standoffs on either side of those two connectors when you reinstall this board.

After installation it is necessary to change CONFIG:KXV3 from NOT INST to NOR.
