PC control of the K2

n0jrn
Got the KIO2 installed tonight .............

Played with it for a bit I need to spend some time figuring out Writelog and
the setup.    Been too long since I used it.       :-)

Just curious,    will the KIO2   support sending CW  from the PC  or does it
require another interface of some sort?

For those of you using PC control,   how did you set it up?

How are you feeding audio to the PC and back ??

Thanks & 72

The KIO2 does support sending CW from the PC but most software doesn't, so you'll need to key the key line via a transistor switch driven by RTS or DTR to use those programs. It has often been mentioned that Ham Radio Deluxe is one of the few that does support CW keying using KIO2, as does the KComm program that I wrote.

For audio in to the K2 I use a cable from the headphone output on the sound card with a resistive attenuator wired inside the mic plug. For audio out, My K2 has the KAF2 and I tapped an audio take-off point from there, taken to a socket I added to the back panel. There are various other methods including a small buffer amplifier that someone made a kit for a while back.
