PSK On USB

kd1na
Steve,
I use USB mode on PSK all the time and never had a problem with IMD. You have to make sure your compression (CMP) is set at zero (0) and keep the ALC between 1 and 5 bars. I have operated this way with my K3 for as long as I have had it with no problems.

I'm not sure whose post you were replying to. I did make a comment in another thread about IMD when operating PSK this way. I did so because when making my power output comparison between DATA A and USB I actually checked the PSK IMD using my KK7UQ IMD meter and I did observe some degradation when 4 or 5 bars of ALC were used. I saw -25dB which many people would still consider acceptable but my K3 is capable of -29dB with three bars or less, exactly the same as if DATA A is used.
