Likely the "why" would be when operating portable,
without a computer. However the implementation(s?)
-- there seem to be three -- in the April QST
article all seem pretty klugy with lots of cables
and more than one device/box in addition to the
KX3, so a small laptop (or netbook) would likely
make just as much or more sense. OTOH -- how many
of us need a panadapter when operating portable?
But I must admit the P3 has spoiled me!
