Portable KX3 Paddle Mount

Don Pomplun
I need to transport my keyer and paddles from home to SF for a day at
KXCH.  The keyer is robust, but my Vibroplex Brass Racer seems too
fragile.  The paddle unit for my KX3 is very nice and relatively
tough.  I just needed a way to use it remote from the
Elecraft.  There are pix at  http://tinyurl.com/d3gckng
I used a Hammond cast aluminum box that I had around and drilled &
tapped mounting holes for 4-40 screws.  The connector is just a 4-pin
piece of 0.1 header.  Careful soldering and heat shrink made it
pretty good.  Silicone feet keep it still, but putting the keyer box
on top makes it non-skid.  For transport, I unscrew the paddles and
put them and the cable inside the box, cushioned by a slab of sponge rubber.

Way cool Don. I might just have to do something like that myself.
