Power Shut Down Resolved!

Hunsdon Cary III
Many thanks to Mark, N2QT; John, NI0K; Bob, K2TK, and Don (of course), W3FPR for pointing me in the right direction to solve this problem!
The reason for the power shutdown?  The ground (black) connector in the DC power cable was not locking in place and causing an intermittent high current that shut the K3 down quickly - that fail safe feature works wonderfully!  In fact, the black ground connector won't lock in place so I will order a replacement set.  When I substituted my K2 power cable, the problem disappeared.

I know there are many that are fans of the Anderson Powerpole connectors but I am not one of them!
My thanks to the hams listed above who helped me resolve this pesky situation!

   I am a fan of the APP when assembled and crimped properly. The
   only times that I have had problems with them was when early
   in my learning career with them I was in too much of a hurry
   and didn't do it properly, and recently when some suppliers
   were delivering knock-offs made in China that weren't up to
   spec.

   I guess that one gets what one pays for......

When making up APP connectors, you have to be VERY sure that the little lip on the connecting pin (the part that's soldered onto the wire) extends completely into the plastic housing so that it locks itself over the metal part inside the plastic housing.  Viewed from the side it looks something like this:

=============\
------------- \

where the double line (string of = signs) represents the connector that's soldered onto the wire, the diagonal slashes represent the lip at the end of that connector, and the single line of dashes represents the metal part of the plastic housing.  If you can pull the wire out, it ain't locked in place.

Once I realized this, I have never had a problem with APPs.
