Power Supply for K3 ?

Phil Salas
I have the MFJ-4125, the MFJ-4225, and the MFJ-4245 power supplies.  I use
the MFJ-4225 and MFJ-4245 on my test equipment bench since I can vary the
output voltage and they are metered.  But I use the MFJ-4125 for running my
K3 in my station, as the power supply is small and there is no reason to
vary the output voltage.  And the MFJ-4125 is the least expensive of the
three as well.  I've found all three power supplies to be very RF quiet.

I ordered a K3 just recently.  I plan to use my MFJ-4225MV supply, which
I like a lot.  It's quiet, but the fan does run all the time.

I understand the K3 fan or fans are very quiet.  That makes me want to
consider quieting down the fan in my MFJ P/S.  I don't like any
unnecessary fan sound, however quiet.  I think I read somewhere that the
fan in this supply runs more than necessary.  I may do some temperature
checks on heat sinks and add some sort of control to the fan.

I bought an MFJ-4125 for use when the K3 arrives.  The fan noise is not
horrible, but noticeable.  I plan to just put the power supply under the
desk which should attenuate the noise considerably.

That works because the -4125 does not have meters.  You probably want to
keep the -4225 on the desktop so you can see the meters.
