Power amplifier

Richard Haendel
I agree with several who voiced their opinion about what power level the new amplifier should be.  IMHO 400 watts is plenty.  I made my own 400 watt PA driven by my dependable K2 S/N 40xx.  It works fine.  With a 2 element switched beam (non rotating) up at 30 ft.  I can work everything I can hear. Even when there is a "rare DX" I usually get the station on the first or second call.  My 400 W transistor PA works on 48 VDC not 13.8 VDC.  It uses 4 each MRF150 devices and at that power level, they are indestructible.
