Problems with HRD, Windows 7 and the old, Serial converter cable using the PROLIFIC chip set

Problem is with the Prolific chip set in the usb converter. Need to
change to FTDI chipset. well-known problem with Prolific drivers and
chipsets and anything using VisualBasic. Also noted (with some venom) in
Simon Brown's HRD manual.
