Been assembling my K3 kit and, until today, it has been going beautifully.
Got it to the point where it was a K3/10 a couple of nights ago and got to play with it, then Saturday I made it in to a K3/100 fired it up and and had a ball learning some of the great features and playing in the 10M Test.
Today I decided to install the KRX3.
Everything seemed to go well until I got to figuring out what to do about antenna input. I had already installed the RF In jack and had the wire in the chassis but after some research I decided that with my two antennas - a 102' doublet and an R7 that I would rather have the scheme that allows me to connect to the ATU and use the "other" antenna as the antenna for the Sub receiver. So, I ran the cable from the KAT3 board and taped up and secured the RX Antenna cable.
I buttoned it up and went through the set up procedures.
At that point I had something weird going on with the Main receiver. Every few seconds it seemed like there were static crashes that kicked up the AGC and sent the S meter to max for milliseconds. I don't know if that was related but after I powered it down a couple of times to scratch my head it seemed to be normal. But, the Sub hears nothing but white noise. Not the hiss of a dead receiver but it sounds like it is listening to a dead band. No amount of switching antennas or even disconnecting the antennas makes any difference in the background noise. Even if I put both of them on strong signal the Sub hears nothing but noise.
I have done all the configuration I can find in the manual a couple of times but still have a dead parrot! (pardon the Monty Python reference but at this point I am trying to keep my sense of humor).
I've re-calibrated the Synthesizer, rechecked the filter set ups and set the KRX3 to ANT=ATU.
Before I take the covers off and recheck my install is their anything I should check from the outside?
In the meantime I will enjoy the radio as is and continue exploring it's amazing features tonight, not up to messing with it anymore today!
