Proset K2 Replace IC with HC-4 ?

DD7ZT
Hi all,

I am thinking about replacing the IC Mic in the Proset K2 with a HC-4.
My questing: Can I do this without any aditional things? Just solder out
the IC and solder in the HC-4? Or isn't it that simple? Of course with
no bias then...

However if it is that simple, what do you guys think? Would you
recommend this or is it better to leave the IC with the Proset K2 at the K3?

73!
Frank, DD7ZT

Frank,

I have the hc-4 connected to the K2. Modified the mic gain a bit (change
of R14 on ssb board) and increased processing (change of RP5).
Getting reports that modulation is excellent. I must say that I took
great care in setting the ssb filter using the well known N0SS method.
