QRP Afield - AE5X

I agree, Bob. I mentioned this last year (as did at least one other
participant) hoping that the rules would be reconsidered. As it stands,
fewer operators will be on the air at any given time, resulting in a
slower-paced contest with more dead time between QSOs than there would be
there otherwise. With this being the case, I can't justify going to the
effort of traveling, setting up, hoping for decent band conditions (given
the poor condx of late) and hoping most other ops have chosen the same 6
hour period in which to operate as I have. I know we can operate for 12
hours & choose the best six but that really isn't feasable for a lot of
folks.

On the other hand, I do hope to make it into a few logs albeit from here in
the shack. Best wishes to those of you heading a'field,

KX1 Touch Paddle - slick, even works with gloves

EricJ-2
Final info and pictures of the modified KXPD1 with touch paddles. Touch
paddle board, 2032 battery and on-off switch integrated with the KXPD1 frame
for a sensitive, reliable touch paddle. It works great because it doesn't
depend on skin resistance, just body capacitance. I can't test it in humid
conditions, but I doubt it will make any difference.

It works with dry hands, dripping wet hands, hands with lotion, even hands
with gloves...all kinds of gloves from knit to dress leather to old work
gloves I use in the garden and latex gloves I use for painting. You can even
send with your left foot with your socks on which I demonstrated to myself
behind closed doors.
