Still the NE QRP Club insists on a "best six hour contiguous period" out
of twelve hours - makes absolutely no sense!
As limited as participation is surely to be, all participants should be
on the air during the same time period. With this
rule, there are a lot of contacts to be missed by everyone. Too late to
change now, but I hope whomever is in charge
will come to this realization before September of 2006...
We will choose to operate either 2PM to 8PM, or 3PM to 9PM EDT
(1800-2400Z or 1900-0100Z) to make maximum
use of the high bands and give us an hour or two to make some Q's on 40M.
K4PG and I will operate one last time from our Field Day site in the
Florida Keys. We have been using the same KOA campground
on Fiesta Key (mm70) for almost every one of the past 38 years. But
next summer, the campground will be gone and a developer
will be breaking ground for condos. Ah, progress! Our setup will be
pretty much the same as each of the past few FD's:
Elecraft K2 and notebook computer running NA, both powered from a 110A/H
marine battery. Antenna will be a 4BTV sitting on
a seawall and surrounded 270 degrees by the Gulf of Mexico. Our call
will be WN1GIV (my Novice call from fifty years ago, now
the "Plantation Contest Club"). This is to be the final operation of
the "Guano Reef Bashful Perverts", unless we can locate a new Guano Reef...
This one is for Grant, N4GM the third pervert, who was unable to join us
for our 2005 Field Day.
