My good friend, NV1B, and I have been working on upgrading my newly
acquired K1 #292. If anyone is curious, I've posted some pics on my blog of the installed K1 Upgrade Kit stages along with an operating view of the installed backlight kit. For the backlight kit, because I will be running on battery almost exclusively, I decided to use the 330 ohm current limiting resistor instead of the 200 ohm. The 200 ohm would have resulted in a brighter display but consume 10 mA vs. the 6 mA the 330 ohm results in. The pics can be seen here: http://w6fo.blogspot.com/ I apologize for some of the ugly soldering on the RF board. The rig was not built by me and it looks like the original builder didn't use the best solder out there to assemble the rig. She works FB however though. -- JT Croteau - W6FO - Canton, GA | K1 #292 ARS #2,147 | NoGA-QRP | SEDXC | ARRL ______________________________________________________________ QRP-L mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/qrp-l Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] |
Hi JT,
I noticed that there is a pin with a wire in it to the left of the inductor in the second picture that isn't soldered. Have you considered reheating some of the connections and letting the solder flow a little nicer. It seems to have balled up in a few places against the pc board. Yeah Steve, there's been a few unsoldered pins I've found so far. It's surprising the rig works as well as it does. heh. -- JT Croteau - W6FO - Canton, GA | K1 #292 ARS #2,147 | NoGA-QRP | SEDXC | ARRL _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
