Hi Nigel,
I bought my first Elecraft rig (K2/100) in 2006 from QRP Project in Germany, since I found their ad in the German Ham magazine "Funk Amateur". This company has a very friendly and small staff, Peter (DL2FI) and Nikolai (DL7NIK). I visited their booth at the Friedrichshafen Hamfest in 2008 and 2010. During the June 2010 event, Elecraft had its own booth just beneath the one of QRP Project and Eric presented the P3 for the first time in Europe. They also sell kits from other sources. As Peter told me, QRP Project is also doing repairs and giving support, which may be interesting in terms of shipping costs for us Europeans. Their web site is www.qrpproject.de and speaks English and German ! Now, concerning prices, you must take into account that sales from a German sellers are necessarily subject to the German VAT (I don't remember the current rate), but you should save some shipping costs. In France and probably in UK too, small shipments going through the Post (USPS in the US and your local Post in UK) are not subject to VAT, in which case, it's better to buy directly from Elecraft than from Germany.. Last, but not least, the current GBP/EUR rate has also to be looked at, specifically within these strange period. 73, Raymond METZGER, F4FNT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

And I decided that going to the US direct was a better option all round!
