Question on KX1 paddle mount

John Evans - N0HJ
Greetings,

Before I do something stupid like strip the threads on the mount
hole, does anyone know what the thread size is ??  Metric or US? 4-40
perhaps?

Re: Question on KX1 paddle mount

John,

That is threaded for 6-32.  Since you are apparently going to put a
screw into that hole that is something other than the paddle mounted
thumbscrew, I will offer a caution - Do NOT allow the screw threads to
extend inside any further than the depth of the threads.  If the screw
tip overlaps the edge of the board, it will damage a PC trace that is
quite close to the edge of the board just below the key jack.  I have
repaired several where that happened.  The usual symptom of that damage
is that the KX1 goes into transmit as soon as power is applied.

Thanks Don,

I'll keep that in mind and be very careful as I plan to homebrew a
paddle set and mount it there.
